M3U

EPG

Short for Electronic Program Guide — the on-screen schedule that shows what's airing right now and what's coming up next for each channel.

Xtream Codes

A login method some IPTV apps use, based on a username, password, and server address rather than a single playlist file. It gets you to the same place as an M3U link, just through a different setup path.

Buffering

Bitrate

How much data goes into encoding one second of video. A higher bitrate generally means a cleaner picture, but it also asks more of your bandwidth to stream without interruption.

VOD

Video on demand — anything you can pull up and watch whenever you want, rather than content tied to a fixed live broadcast schedule.
